Q: Where can I find information in the Covenants about putting up a new fence? A: “Section 25. All fence plans must be submitted, in writing, to the Architectural Control Committee and must be approved prior to construction starting. Fences permitted of wood construction only with a maximum height of six (6) feet. Open split-rail type fences may have wire mesh (no chain link) attached to inside of fence below top rail. Finish to be natural, stain or paint in earth tone colors. Privacy fences may not extend beyond front line of house. Front yard fences permitted only on lot corners and must be open type construction (split-rail type). Fences placement on lot must meet Allen County building codes. Fences must be maintained as to appearance and safety. Q: Who is responsible for maintaining the streets throughout the neighborhood? A: Street and road repair and maintenance is performed by the Street Department of Fort Wayne. If you see something that needs attention please go to the Suggestion section of the website or contact the City of Fort Wayne by calling 311.
Q: Who is responsible for the maintenance of the Hillsboro parks and common areas? A: The Hillsboro Community Association, ensures that neighborhood parks and common areas are properly maintained and cared for. We contract with a local landscaping firm to ensure the grounds kept in excellent condition. If you have concerns please go to the Suggestions page and submit your comments.
Q: Who is responsible for plowing the snow throughout the neighborhood? A: The City of Fort Wayne is supposed to be responsible for plowing all public streets within the city limits. However because Associations are low on the priority list for clearing snow, Hillsboro, ensures that neighborhood streets are plowed and kept clear during the winter months.. We contract with a local snow removal firm to ensure the streets are kept in excellent condition. If you have concerns please send an email to hillsboro46835@gmail.com. It is however, the responsibility of each homeowner to ensure they sidewalk in front of their property is clear and safe to walk on.
Q. How much do board members get paid? A. All board and committee members are volunteers and do not receive any compensation of any kind for their service.
Q. How can I join the board or volunteer to help? A. At the Annual Meeting in October board members are elected. We may have up to 15 board members. However, you may volunteer to work on a committee if you do not want to be a board member. We always appreciate the help.
